Tier 02 · AI Assistants
The long tail.
With sources.
When questions are too varied for a fixed set of answers, an AI Assistant reads your own documents, writes a clear reply, shows where it came from — and hands off to a person when it isn't sure.
Does the extended warranty cover water damage on a refurbished unit?
Yes — refurbished units bought with the extended warranty are covered for accidental water damage for 24 months, as long as the unit was installed by a certified technician.[1]

How it works
Grounded, not guessing.
- 01
Your documents, prepared
Policies, manuals, product sheets, FAQs and past answers are cleaned up, split into passages and indexed for search.
- 02
Find the right passages
Each question pulls only the passages from your documents that are relevant to it.
- 03
Answer from those passages
A language model writes the reply using only what was retrieved — and shows which documents it came from.
- 04
Know when to stop
If the documents don't cover it, or the topic is off-limits, it says so and hands the customer to a person.
Guardrails
Built to be trusted.
An AI Assistant is only as good as its limits. Every deployment ships with these.
01
Sources on every answer
Customers and your team can see which document an answer came from, so it can be checked.
02
Stays on topic
Scoped to your business. Off-topic, unsafe or out-of-scope requests are declined politely.
03
No advice it shouldn't give
Configured to refuse medical diagnoses, legal advice or anything you rule out — and route to your staff instead.
04
Human hand-off
Collects the customer's details and passes the conversation to your team when it can't help.
05
Usage caps
Each plan has a monthly limit with alerts, so a spike in traffic never turns into a surprise bill.
06
Reviewed conversations
We review transcripts and fix gaps in the documents, so answers improve month over month.
Best of both
Approved answers first.
AI for the rest.
Most customer questions are predictable. A hybrid assistant answers those from your approved knowledge — exact and free — and only calls on AI for the questions that fall outside it. Fewer model calls, lower cost, and your most important answers never vary.
Tier 01 engine
“What time do you close on Saturday?”
Matched to an approved answer and returned word for word. No model call.
Tier 02 AI
“Does the extended warranty cover water damage if I bought it refurbished?”
Answered from the warranty policy, with the source shown.

Questions
Fair questions.
How is this different from a Business Assistant?
A Business Assistant (Tier 01) can only return answers you've written and approved, word for word — perfect for predictable questions. An AI Assistant handles open-ended questions across large sets of documents by writing an answer from the relevant passages. Many businesses combine both: approved answers first, AI only when no approved answer exists.
Can it get things wrong?
Yes — any AI system can. We reduce that by answering only from your documents, showing sources, declining when the documents don't cover a question, and handing off to a person. If you need answers that can never vary, that's Tier 01, or a hybrid of both.
What does it cost?
Setup starts at $1,500 and plans start at $149/month. The monthly plan includes the AI model usage up to a message limit, plus hosting, monitoring and updates. The exact plan depends on your volume and documents, and is confirmed in writing after a free consultation.
Who pays for the AI model usage?
It's included in your monthly plan up to the plan's limit, so you get one predictable bill. Larger clients can choose to use their own model provider account instead.
Is our data used to train AI models?
We only use model providers whose business API terms do not train on your data. Your documents are used to answer your customers' questions, nothing else. If you want AI for your own employees to use with confidential information, see Private AI.
What documents can it use?
Most text-based material: PDFs, web pages, help-centre articles, product sheets, policies and FAQs. We'll review what you have in the consultation.
